This is a beautiful and rare Viennese enamel and silver miniature horn, decorated with hand painted mythological scenes. There is an silver eagle with wings spread holding up the horn and a bird finial on the top. The silver mountings are finely engraved. There are no markings on the silver but it tests as silver. The piece measures 5 3/4" tall, 3 3/4" across, and the domed base is 2" in diameter. It weighs 127.3 grams or 4.09 troy ounces. The enamel is in good condition. There are two tiny pin point flakes near the silver mounts and two tiny short scratches which you have to look hard to find. The blue cloth wrapped around the nude woman in the center may have been professionally touched up at some point, as the surface does not feel as smooth there, but it is very hard to tell. This is a wonderful piece and displays so beautifully.
